History

As of XIIe century, the documents mention " Of granis" (undoubtedly of Latin granum, the grain), a seigniory belonging to the archbishop's palace of Arles. the village counted to 12 mills with corn at the 19th century, sign of a primarily rural vocation. The center of the village is in charge of history with its character typically of Provence. It is crossed by Touloubre and two not collected sources are indexed: the Large Fountain and the source of Canebière which feeds the Mary-Rose fountain. (Source Western Provence)

How the mayor sees his fellow-citizens?

" Gransois is initially of Provence. At the time of the dormitory towns - and let us have we much in our area - Grans kept the heart of a village. A village with its qualities and its defects. Arguments of family but also solidarity. We have a historical population, the village core, and external contributions, often of the executives. Historically, it should not be forgotten that we belonged to the archbishop's palace of Arles and we were often turned more towards Crau and the Camargue that towards Aix or Living room, in spite of the proximity. Example: the tradition of the bouvine is very strong on our premises, one of our more famous fellow-citizens is Chomel. It is thus normal that we integrated SAN". (Yves Vidal for Western Provence)
