Grand Prix of the science fiction and the fantastic inhabitant of Quebec
The Grand Prix of the science fiction and the fantastic inhabitant of Quebec (GPSFFQ) reward the whole of the one year old work of a Québécois writer in the field of the science fiction and the fantastic one.
Description
Created in 1984 in order to fill the gap in this field, the GPSFFQ is a major literary prize in these two kinds with Quebec, and the only price " professionnel". It collects more than one hundred of candidatures each year. It aims to promote these kinds near the public and their production in the authors. It is supplied with a purse of 2500$ Canadian.
The price is managed by a not-lucrative organization with the purpose whose board of directors is composed of seven members representative of the medium of the science fiction in Quebec, from which at least one must be an author. The council manages the payments of the price, establishes acceptable works, sees with the constitution of the jury, acts as press service and of search for silent partners and organizes the event of handing-over of the price. In 2005, the chairman of the board is Patrick Sénécal, author inter alia novel On the threshold from which a Québécois film with success was drawn, and professor of literature and cinema to the Cégep de Drummondville. As from 2008, the price will bear the name of the Jacques-Brossard price of science fiction and fantastic .
