Grand Prix of the Imaginary one

The Grand Prix of Imaginary (GPI) is a Literary prize French created in 1974 by the writer and critical Jean-Pierre Fontana at the time of the Festival of science fiction of Clermont-Ferrand. Initially entitled Grand Prix of the French Science fiction , it was renamed Grand Prix of Imaginary in 1992, which corresponds to an extension of its field of competence, this for two primary reasons:

  • the disappearance of the Price Apollo which rewarded for the novels of all nationalities, the Grand Prix of Imaginary then including, him also, of Anglo-Saxon works.
  • the increasingly frequent bringing together of the Science fiction with other kinds like the Fantastic , the Horror and the Fantasy.

GPI is decreed in November at the time of the International festival of Science fiction of Utopiales of Nantes.
