The Grand Prix of Isbergues is a French Cycle race , so called GPI .
History
The Grand Prix of Isbergues is resulting from a cycle race created in 1945 in the district from Bridge-with-Balque Isbergues. The municipality officialized the event in 1947.
Today, it is a test cyclist placed under the payments of the International Union Cyclist and the French federation of Cyclisme.
Only exclusively professional race of the Pas-de-Calais, classified since 1995 of category 1.1 by UCI, it is registered with the calendar of the UCI Europe Tour.
It is also registered among the tests cash of the Coupe de France of cycling.
The Grand Prix of Isbergues knew great champions like Anquetil, Poulidor, Stablinski Eddy Merckx or Hinault and Lemond.
The race
The edition 2007
Martin Elmiger (Ag 2R) gains the 61e Grand Prix Cyclist of Isbergues - Pas-de-Calais in this Sunday, September 23, day of sound 29e birthday. This GPI which disputed under estival conditions for 168 leaving (of which McEwen, Cooke, Cavendish, Hushovd, Christophe Moreau…) will have been marked in its first half by the beautiful escape of Niels Brouzes (Auber 93), Laurent Mangel (Ag 2R) and Coen Vermeltfoort (Rabobank), the trio counted up to five minutes in advance before being demobilized in the coast of Sachin. A duet was going to reign on the last hundred kilometers, Andy Cappelle de Landbouwkrediet and Martin Elmiger. Getting along with wonder, Switzerland and the Belgian succeeded in keeping about thirty seconds in advance on the group in the final loops isberguoises. One crowned performance when it is known that the teams of the sprinters were launched to their cases. Starting by far, Martin Elmiger logically dominated Cappelle over the finishing line; Sebastien Chavanel taking the 3rd place by regulating the group of the pousuivants royally (Hushovd 5th, Cooke 6th, Feillu 7th).

The edition 2006
The edition 2006,60ème of the name, was held on Sunday, September 17, 2006. This race comprises a course 202,5 km raised, long, with a circuit in the morning on the town of Isbergues followed by a course in the mounts before reconsidering a loop in the town of Isbergues. This edition was gained by the " pet " of the public Isberguois Cédric Vasseur in 4:38 min 10 S (either a mean velocity: 43,71km/h). It thus gains its second Grand Prix of Isbergues , preceding with the sprint the Belgian Philippe Gilbert. In the third place of this edition, one found Frederic Guesdon to 1 min 45 S. This edition was marked by the presence of the world champion 2006, Tom Boonen, fellow-member of the winner of this edition 2006.
