Grand Prix motor bike
Grand Prix motor bike ( MotoGP ) is a format of races of motor bikes which gathers each year the best world pilots. The competition proceeds March at November in the form of a Championnat of the World. All the machines are prototypes and the manufacturers are directly implied in their design like in the management of the best teams.
In 2002, the engines four times of 990 cm ³ replaced 500 cm ³ two times in MotoGP (although in theory 500 cm ³ were accepted until 2006) then the new regulation 2007 reduced the cubic capacity to 800 cm ³, prohibiting the use of other engines.
General information
It is in 1949 that the International federation of motorcycle racing (FIM) organizes the first championship of the world. Today, it intervenes in the field of the regulation, the company Dorna Sports holding on its side the commercial laws of the discipline.MotoGP is the queen category of race of motor bicycles, the categories 125 cm ³ and 250 cm ³ being in general the classes where the young pilots make their weapons. The motor bikes are prototypes, contrary to the Superbike category which gathers motor bikes of series modified according to criteria defined by the regulation. There is thus a technological aspect which obliges in fact the teams to do a work of often expensive research and development, which also explains the statute of elite which is associated with MotoGP.
