The term Grand Cross ( grand' cross is an antiquated C-W communication) indicates the rank of the member elect (and also the member elect himself) highest of certain military or civil decorations, in particular:

• the Legion of honor (to see the list of the Grand Crosses),
• the National order of the Merit (to see the list of the Grand Crosses),
• the Order of Malta,
• the Order of the British Empire,
• the Order of Saint-Charles (Principality of Monaco).
