Habitat

This mygale lives on the ground, even if it climbs on the occasion, in relatively wet mediums (mygale]] of the {{B family}} of [[Theraphosidae]]. The pink mygale of Chile, also called mygale Rosy or " araña pollito" in Chile, is the species of [[Mygalomorphae|mygale]] most common in captivity, which does not make of it less one extremely interesting species. If it is so widespread, it is thanks to its docility. It is a mygale pleasant to handle for those which are caught there carefully. The mygale Pink of Chile is excellent a " first mygale". She is the object of an important trade because of the interest which the terrariophiles carry to him and she is thus relatively easy to find in animalery. Its colors go from brown to the pink, all depend on the specimen. The color of a mygale Pink of Chile can change with the age (at the time of its moults). The males live only until sexual maturity (3-5 years) but the females can live more than one about fifteen years (even about thirty). It is a mygale of average size. An old female can measure up to 8 cm (legs not included) or 15 cm starting from the ends of its legs. ==Habitat== It is a terrestrial mygale which however does not hesitate has to climb on the panes of its terrarium. It is thus paramount to have a ventilated but closed terrarium. It requires a certain moisture (50-70%) and a temperature of 21-30 C. In its terrarium, it appreciates much the hiding-places. It needs obviously a point of water to water itself. Several substrates can decorate the bottom with terrarium: dig peat, chips… ==Alimentation== It is an insectivorous mygale which has rather good appetite. It nourishes several crickets per week, except during its period of moult. One can also give him worms of flour. It is extremely important not to leave the crickets not devoured to accumulate in terrarium. It does not matter the size of the mygale, they can wound it seriously if they are numerous. It is also important to nourish well the insects which will be used as preys because their vitamins will be absorbed by the spider. ==Période of mue== The moult of a mygale is an important stage of its growth. The young person is, the faster its growth is and thus more it will frequently enter in period of moult. It is a natural phenomenon which can however be worrying for a new stockbreeder who does not expect it. It is initially a period or the mygale cease to nourish itself. It limits its displacements. The mygale Pink of Chile is generally placed on the back to moult. She can remain motionless during several hours preceding the moult. The moult can also be rather long but it is very interesting to observe entirely at least once. It is very important not to touch a mygale moulting. It is also important to withdraw any food of its terrarium because it becomes very fragile and the crickets could wound it seriously. A good level of moisture is also important at the time of the moult. When the moult is finished, you will be able to withdraw the excuvie (old skin of the mygale) of terrarium and to preserve it if you wish it. Wait at least a week after the moult to nourish your mygale again, time that its new skin hardens. ==Dangers== It does not represent a danger to the man. It can happen that a mygale Pink of Chile bites if she fears for her safety but its bite (and not puncture) are not dangerous. However, the pain which it inflicts is frequently compared with that of a puncture of wasp. It can also happen that a mygale Pink of Chile bombarbe of irritant hairs, that it will remove from her abdomen thanks to her legs, if it is inconvenienced. In such a situation, it is important to let rest the mygale and not to be scraped, which would have for only effect to insert the hairs in your skin. Itchings will pass relatively quickly. In order to avoid these disadvantages, it is preferable not to handle its mygale in a too frequent way. Many people are carried to flatter the abdomen of a mygale, i.e. to treat it like a dog. The mygale rosy is very flexible but she particularly does not appreciate the caresses, which go besides more often than another thing to stress it and make it more aggressive.
