Graffiti Research Lab
The Graffiti Research Lab (G.R.L.) is a collective of artists being attached to the “open” laboratory of the Eyebeam foundation (“Eyebeam Openlab”) which develops tools intended for “technologically to support the individuals to modify and reinvest in a creative way their environments invaded by the culture of the trade and the company” , thus transposing the spirit Open source in the world of the arts of the street. Each one of their project is documented in a very precise way on their site, accompanied by Vidéo S and instructions detailed to encourage people to pass them-even to the realization.
On the initiative of the G.R.L are James Powderly (also known under the pseudoyme of “Resistor”), graduate of NYU Interactive Telecommunications Program (“programme of interactive telecommunication of the Université of New York”), former engineer with Honeybee Robotics, having developed for NASA, artist with residence at Eyebeam since 2002 and Evan Roth (also known under the name of “FI5E”), Co-creator of the ni9e.com site, for which it received various prices with the Flash Forward Film Festival and Flash in the Can Design and Technology Festival.
