They are herbaceous, perennial, rhizomateuses plants of the dry areas of Australia.
Whereas certain authors incorporated it in the Anthéricacée S, phylogenetic classification separated these plants from the Liliacée S and attaches the family to whole share with the order of the Asparagales .
