Gréolières

Gréolières is a common French, located in the department of the the Alpes-Maritimes and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure. Its inhabitants is the Gréolois .

Geography

The village of Gréolières is located on the southern slope of the Montagne of Cheiron and overhangs the river of the Loup (river).

In addition to the village the commune of Gréolières comprises two hamlets:

Saint-Pons : this small hamlet is also located on the southern slope of the mountain of Cheiron.
Gréolières Snows : This family ski station (altitude 1400-1800m) is one of closest to the Riviera. Since the top of the Montagne of Cheiron it is possible to benefit the skis with the feet from a splendid panorama on the Riviera energy of Monaco until the Massif of Esterel.

The southern exposure full makes of Gréolières a place favourable with the practice of the Parapente throughout the year.

The territory of the commune is rich in vestiges:

Church Notre-Dame de Verdelaye (ruins) which one finds mention in the year 1047. These ruins are below located the village.
Two castles in ruins, one located in the middle village and of which it is made mention since 1079, and the other located at the top of the village on a rocky outcrop and of which it is made mention since 1232.
Église Saint-Pierre mentioned since 1312 located in the middle of the village, where one finds a triptych of Provence of the end of XVe century as well as a Virgin with the medieval Child.
