Governorship of Zaghouan

The governorship of Zaghouan (rear RTL ولايةزغوان), created in November 1976, is one of the 24 Gouvernorat S of the Tunisia. It is located in the North-East of the country and covers a Superficie of 2768 km ² (either 1,7% of the surface of the country). It shelters a population of 165.700 inhabitants. Its Chef-lieu is Zaghouan.

Geography

The governorship, located at 51 kilometers of the Capital , is limited by the governorships of Ben Arous and Manouba to north, Sousse and Kairouan in the south and Siliana and Béja in the west.

Administratively, it is cut out into 6 rural delegations, 6 municipalities, 5 councils and 48 Imada S.

The average Température is there of 18°C and the annual Pluviométrie varies between 350 and 550 millimetres according to the delegations.

Economy

Traditionally, the governorship is agricultural but has knows recently a movement of Industrialization. The Active population is concentrated primarily in the agricultural sector (33,3%), the services (17,9%) and manufacturing industry (16%). There exist 150 industrial companies and 63 foreign companies including 43 exporting units completely . These companies operate primarily in the sectors of the Industrie, of the Tourisme, agriculture, and the services. The principal regional agricultural produce is:
  • Cereal: 5,42% of the red national production
  • Meat: 3,2% of the national production
  • white Meat: 3% of the national production
  • Milk: 2,4% of the national production
  • Olive oil: 2,5% of the national production
  • Fruit: 0,63% of the national production

The principal exported products are:

  • the Textile
  • the products Mechanical S, electric and electronic S
  • olive oil
  • the Cement
  • articles in Wood
