Governorship of Sfax
The governorship of Sfax (rear RTL ولايةصفاقس), created in 1956, is one of the 24 Gouvernorat S of the Tunisia. It is located in the east of the country and covers a Superficie of 7545 km ² is 4,6% of the surface of the country. It shelters a population of 881.600 inhabitants, which places it at the second rank behind the Gouvernorat of Tunis. Its Chef-lieu is Sfax.
Geography
It is delimited by the Mediterranean in the east, the Gouvernorat of Gabès in the south, the Gouvernorat of Mahdia in north and the governorships of Kairouan, Sidi Bouzid and Gafsa in the west. It also includes the Archipel Kerkennah.Its privileged geographical position, its broad opening on the sea (with a littoral of almost 235 kilometers) and its port (largest of Tunisia) give him a big role in the commercial exchanges at the national and international level.

Economy
The economy of the governorship of Sfax is formerly primarily based on the Olive oil, the fishing and the Phosphate S. Port of Sfax
The port of Sfax is a major asset for the Tunisian and regional economy. Its commercial port is one of oldest country and the second of Tunisia. It is created towards 1905.
