Government of National defense
The control provisional national defense was formed with Paris the September 4th 1870 under the presidency of the Général Trochu. It is composed of Député S republicans of Paris with inter alia Gambetta, Minister of Interior Department, Jules Favre, Foreign Minister and Jules Ferry as secretary of the government, which solemnly proclaimed the IIIeme republic with the Town hall.
In Paris, where the Trochu general is governor military, the government does few efforts to defend the capital effectively. The government having chosen to remain in Paris encircled by the Prussian troops and their allies, a delegation is sent to Tours to coordinate the action in province under the orders of Adolphe Crémieux, Minister for Justice, accompanied by Alexandre Glais-Bizoin and the Admiral Fourichon. It will be joined the October 9th by Leon Gambetta invests ministries for the war and interior to form new armies: the Armed with North, the Armed with the Loire then the Armed with the East. In January 1871, in front of the advance of the German armies, the delegation will fold up itself on Bordeaux.
