Government Verhofstadt II

Verhofstadt II is the name of the Belgian government set up the July 12th 2003 and formed by a coalition (known as violet ) associating the socialist families (PS, French-speaking person, and Sp.a, Flemish) and liberal (VLD, Flemish, and MR., French-speaking person). It also associates the Flemish nationalist small part SPIRIT, which had been presented in trust with the sp.a.

This government succeeds the Gouvernement Verhofstadt I (known as government rainbow).

It was altered on July 20th 2004, following the European regional elections and, and on October 17th 2005, following the departure of the Deputy Prime Minister Johan Vande Lanotte (sp.a). Other minor rehandlings also intervened.
