The government Philippe Pétain is the last government of the Third Republic in France. It was directed by Philippe Pétain of the June 16th 1940 at the end of the Third Republic the July 10th 1940.

Formation of the government

Paul Reynaud, President of the Council since the March 22nd 1940, having resigned the June 16th, at the beginning of evening, the President of the Republic Albert Lebrun invites at once the Marshal Philippe Pétain to form the new government.

End of the government

The July 10th 1940, the National Assembly joined together with Vichy vote full powerss with the Marshal Philippe Pétain, abolishing in fact the Third Republic. The Régime of Vichy starts then.
