May 10th, 1988, Jacques Chirac gave the resignation of the government to François Mitterrand, president of the Republic, which appointed the same day Michel Rocard Prime Minister. The nomination of the ministers intervened on May 12th, and that of the Secretaries of State on May 13rd.
