- June 12th: End of the Government Felix Gouin.
- June 16th: Speech of Bayeux of the General de Gaulle, criticizing the institutions incipient from IVe republic and presenting its design of the institutions.
- June 23rd:
- Beginning of the second constituent Assembly.
- Beginning of the government Georges Bidault (1) president of the provisional government.
- August 17th: After the permanent closure of the Bagne of Cayenne, arrived at Marseilles of the last 145 prisoners coming from Guyana.
- October 7th: The law fixes the duration of the military service at one year.
- October 13rd: Referendum adopting the new constitution (53% yes) - Birth of the Fourth Republic on October 27th.
- October 19th: Statute of the Public office.
- November 10th:
- legislative Elections in France confirming the domination of the Left and in particular of PCF (28,8%).
- This same day Georges Bidault receives Molotov in Versailles.
