- March 23rd: Beginning of the government Edgar Faure (2) president of the Council.
- May 20th: Draft-agreement between the ECA, the ministry for Finances and that of the Armies for the development of French nuclear weapons.
- May 27th: Adoption of Plane IIe.
- November 29th: The government Edgar Faure (2) is reversed in the majority absolute.
- December 2nd: Edgar Faure dissolves the National Assembly pursuant to article 51 of the Constitution (two governments reversed in the majority absolute in less than 18 months).
- December 8th: Formation of the Republican Face.

- Victoire of the republican Face. Collapse of the social republicans (ex-RPF). Opening and rise of Poujadisme (Union and Fraternité French) with the entry of this movement at the Parliament. Jean-Marie Le Pen, elected under label poujadist, between with the National Assembly, like the youngest deputy.
