Gouvix is a common French, located in the department of the Calvados and the area Basse-Normandie.

Geography

History

The commune of Gouvix has a mining past. A furnace to be roasted there is located. The entry of mine and offices are in Urville.
  • 1896: Concession with Mister de Saint-Aldegonde and associated; intermittent exploitation because ore too silicieux
  • 1917: creation of S.A. of the iron mines of Gouvix
  • 1914: a gallery
  • 1917: company of Saint-Firminy
  • 1929: 5 arranged plans, cable of 1560 m outputting 150 tons per hour, 3 furnaces to be roasted, accumulators, railway connecting Gouvix to Soumont
  • 1968: discontinuance of business
