Goussonville

Goussonville is a common Frenchwoman located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France.

Its name derives from the name of a character Gunzo , of Germanic origin.

The inhabitants are called Goussonvillois.

Geography

The commune of Goussonville is located at 10 km in the south-east of Mantes-the-Pretty and approximately 8 km in the south-west of Épône, on the plate of the Mantois at an altitude of approximately 100 m.

It is located on the secondary road D 130 which connects the Wall-on-Seine to Orgerus in the south. The station nearest is that of Épône-Wall.

The commune is bordering on the communes of the Wall-on-Seine in the North-East, of Épône in the east (on 150 Mr.), of Jumeauville in south-east, Hargeville in the south and Boinville-in-Mantois in the west.

History

Traces of prehistoric habitat were found in the commune (polishing machine of the Neolithic era).

The seigniory of Goussonville was the property of the counts de Hallot since the 15th century until 1786, year when it was repurchased by the count of Séran. This one, dispossessed of its goods during the Revolution, recovered them with the Restoration and became mayor of Goussonville thereafter.

1948: creation of the company of the castle of Goussonville, for the creation of a private clinic.

At the end of 1953: opening of the Clinical of Goussonville.

1997: opening of the center of rehabilitation renovated.

Economy

Rural district.

Culture

  • Saint-Denis Church: stone building builds at the 12th century which belonged at the origin with the abbey of Saint-Denis. It is contiguous to the castle. The high altar has a retable in joinery of the 17th century, a fabric represents holy Denis before his decapitation.
  • Castle of Goussonville: dating from and 18th century, it is composed of two buildings joined in length, the second being a little below the first. It was transformed into cardiologic private clinic then in convalescent home.

  • Laundrette: dating from the 18th century, it is composed of three basins and is covered by a roof in tiles.
