Places and monuments

Collegial Saint-Hildevert

Collegial Saint-Hildevert, in major part of the 12th century, is composed of a Romance Nef of six spans, provided with sides, a Transept and a chorus of three Travée S, also flanked Bas-côté S, ending in a flat Chevet bored of a large window of the 14th century. Two spans of the right-sided of the chorus are still Romance; they offer a rise identical to that in the nave. The remainder of the chorus was rebuilt at the 13th century.

The Chapiteau X Romance of the Saint-Hildevert church are undoubtedly among most interesting of High-Normandy. The majority of them are decorated with Palmette S and interlacing; some decorate checkerworks, rafters and plated reasons for foliage; others finally are decorated with illustrated scenes, awkwardly treated but often very expressive.
