The gourami indicates fish of Osphronemidae (of the Perciformes) which live in warm water of Asia. In a Aquarium, the word of gourami must be associated with S calm and little stirring up by privileging the species coming, like him, of Southeast Asia. In the Asian species it is necessary nevertheless to avoid the bearded of Sumatra, those tending to nibble the pelvic Nageoire S of the gouramis. Its frayed pectoral fins have a tactile and sensory role.
The fish indicated by the term “Gourami” belong mainly to two S:
- the kind Trichogaster . They are species of intermediate size (between 10 and 20 cm) of which most known are the Gourami beaded ( Trichogaster leeri ) and the blue Gourami ( Trichogaster trichopterus );
- the kind Colisa . The colisas are dwarf gouramis with the image of most known of them: the dwarf Gourami ( Colisa lalia ) which hardly measures more than 6 to 7 cm.
The gouramis belong to the same family as celebrates it Combattant of Siam.
