Gouf

The gouf is a underwater Canyon, i.e. a deep notch in the continental Slope, to which the end is very close to the littoral and directly aspires the sediments in transit along the coast. This name is drawn from Gouf of Capbreton located as of the exit of the port landais same name. The sediments put moving along the coast of the Landes by the swell mainly of Western North will lose in the abyssal Plaine the Bay of Biscay by this gouf. The presence of the gouf prevents the deceleration of the phenomenon of erosion.
