Goudomp

Goudomp is a town of Casamance (Senegal), located on left bank of the river Casamance.

History

Administration

In 1990, Goudomp was set up in commune. It is today one of the three communes of the department of Sédhiou in the area of Kolda.

Geography

Goudomp is on the trunk road N6 which connects Kolda to Ziguinchor.

The closest localities are Kaour, Serifkounda, Balmadou, Sindina, Bakoundi and Pantodosse Diola.

Geological physics

Population

At the time of the census of 2002, the population rose with 11.013 inhabitants.

In 2007, according to the official estimates, Goudomp would count 12.012 people.

It is an area where one speaks the swinging.

Economy

Goudomp is a village which saw mainly fishing of shrimps in the Casamance river. But this resource is threatened by progressive disappearance of the mangrove because of the drynesses and deforestation.
