History, site and monuments
History
Gouézec would come from “Gouesnou”, companion of Paul-Aurélien saint.Probable dismemberment of Briec, Gouézec, subjected to the abbey of Landévennec, is parish as of the 11th century. Gouézec is certainly a monastic foundation created by a saint character of the 6th century, as suggests it a mention at the 12th century of the “Minihi” of its church. The parish of Gouézec depended formerly on évêché on Cornwall.
Following names are met: Vicaria Uuoeduc (11th century), Goethuc (12th century), Goezec (about 1330), Goezeuc (in 1368). The territory was occupied as of the Neolithic era as testifies some the walk shady to Kerriou. He was then inhabited continuously. A deposit of axes with bronze casing, a carved foot of the iron age and the vestiges of a way of time of it are the proof. At the 19th century, the commune is famous for its salte quarries which were exploited of 1830 to 1914.

The building includes/understands a nave with northern side of five spans, a separate transept of the nave by an arc diaphragm and a polygonal chorus with multiple valleys. The bell-tower, finished in octagonal dome, diminishes in skylight: it is alongside in the north of a turret of staircase and was remade at the end of the 17th century or at the beginning of the 18th century. The platform out of wooden carved date of 1671. The mural dates from the 17th century. To also announce in paving, the weapons of Guyon de Quellenec and its wife Jeanne de Rostrenen. Close to the vault is the three fountains which gave him its name; The " number; trois" seem to play a big role in this region. Not far from the vault indeed the crossroads of the Three Crosses is. One of the sources is called the fountain of the Three Marry. It is about Marie, the mother of Jesus, Marie Salome and Marie de Magdala, known as Marie-madeleine. They probably took the place of the Matrons, these three druidic goddesses who were represented sat with a child emmailloté on the knees of that of the medium. Anatole Braz reports a quite sad legend which was told to him by Jeanne Prat, then guardian of the vault:
One day, a man carrying a basket passed in front of the vault of the Three Fountains. He had just deposited the basket which a woman had suddenly asked him what he transported. “Last nine small pigs to be sold”, answered it. But the woman knew that he lied and that these new alleged pigs were in truth nine small children who had just been born and who them father, because of his misery, wanted to go to drown, because he was not able to provide for their needs. The woman had pity and proposed to him to come to him in assistance, but in a condition: he was to make baptize the children. The father accepted. And, once returned at his place, it found its barns full. It then took along his children to make them baptize. And at this point in time he saw a statue of the Virgin approaching him. It tressaillit, because he recognized in this statue the woman who had challenged it! And it spread around it innumerable gold coins. The man wanted to collect them, but as soon as it touched one of them, this one was transformed into dust. The children were baptized. But as soon as water had run on their face, they died. Cut down, the man returned at his place. All the harvest which had filled its barns, it, had also been transformed, like the gold coins, in dust.
The mother of Jesus is quite cruel, in this tale! As it is probable as this character rather incarnates this cruel mother whom one meets in some mythological legend.
