Gottlieb August Wilhelm Herrich-Schäffer is a Médecin and a German entomologist , born the December 17th 1799 with Ratisbon and dead the April 14th 1874 in this same city.

It is a prolific author who in particular makes appear Die Schmetterlinge Europas . It describes butterfly S collected by Josef Johann Mann (1804-1889) and Julius Lederer (1821-1870). It is made citizen of honor of the town of Ratisbon in 1871.
