Gosu

Gosu is a Korean word coming from the dialect of the province of the Gyeongsang. It results literally in “chief”. In the jargon of the players of video games this term indicates the extremely qualified Progamer S, or simply players.

Some allot to him the significance God Of Starcraft Universe or also Good Online Starcraft User , name later wide with other plays (especially for the strategy games in real-time of Blizzard, such as Warcraft III). It should however be noted that these definitions, whimsical, are false.

Gosu is one of the three Korean words used to measure the degree of competence of a player:

  • a hasu is regarded as an intermediate player of level: it in general has good experience coupled to a thorough knowledge of the play.

  • a chobo could be confused with new, the player does not have any base, or to too little be able to be effective in the play. This term is the equivalent of the English word Newbie or noob (this last word having become pejorative only since diablo 2; it is actually not it).
