Gosselies

Gosselies (in Walloon Gochliye ) is a section of the Belgian city of Charleroi located in Walloon region in the Province of Hainaut.

It was a commune with whole share before the fusion of the communes of 1977.

Previously, Gosselies carried the title of city.

Gosselies celebrated its millenium in 1980. Indeed, the first appearance of the name of Gosselies was found on a notarial act going back to 980. (of the Notger notary)

It is known for its regional and international airport called Aéroport of Charleroi Brussels-South, served by several airline companies with low tariffs, of which mainly Ryanair; it is one of both international airports which ensure the service road of Brussels.

Gosselies is an important shopping mall (many large surfaces (more than 300 trade), shopping mall " City-Nord" ,…) and school, serving the Northern area of Charleroi. It accommodates many companies, in particular in the field of the Aéronautique (Sonaca, SABCA,…) and of high technologies (park of " activities; Aéropôle"). The American company of construction of machines of civil engineering, Caterpillar, has an important establishment with Gosselies.

Lastly, Gosselies is known night birds of the area of Charleroi for its many possibilities of leisures, concentrated around the " Circus Village" , comprising several discotheques and other entertainments.
