Gorilla (comics)

Gorilla was a label of edition of comics within Image Comics.

History

The label was founded in 2000 by several authors and famous artists of the world of the comics: Kurt Busiek, George Perez, Mark Waid, Karl Kesel…

Four titles were initially created:

  • ShockRockets of Kurt Busiek and Stuart Immonen
  • Empire of Waid Mark and Barry Kitson
  • Section Zero of Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett
  • Crimson Plague of George Perez, taken again of a preceding attempt at publication.

They are very quickly joined by an already existing title at Image, Tellos of Todd Dezago and Mike Wieringo.

However, in spite of the critical success of certain titles, the label did not last and not put the key under the door for economic reasons.

French publications

Into France, the six episodes of ShockRockets (as well as a preview of Section Zero ) were translated at Semic into 2001 into three publications kiosk then republished into album by Delcourt.

The beginnings of Empire , title whose continuation appeared at cd. Comics, were published in bookstore in 2005.

Tellos was initially translated into kiosks before being begun again in Semic Books.
