Gori

Gori (გორი in Géorgien) is an industrial town located in Georgia, in the province of Shida Kartli. The city was founded by one of largest kings de Géorgie, David the Builder (1089 - 1125). Its population is of 60.000 inhabitants. Gori is located at the junction of the rivers Liakhvi and Koura. The old city was mainly destroyed at the time of an earthquake in 1920.

Gori is the birthplace of Stalin (1878). It has a museum concerning its life (with some of its personal objects) and has its last not-unbolted statue. The city is dominated by the medieval fortress of Goristsikhe.
