Gorges of the Tarn

The river the Tarn, takes its source on the Mont Lozere in Lozere and will be thrown in the the Garonne. It crosses the Lozere in the area of the Grands Causses and will form the picturesque ones cañons. It thus creates largest throats of Europe.

The gorges of the Tarn are a Canyon dug by the Tarn between the Causse Méjean and the Causse of Sauveterre. They extend from Quézac to the Rozier on 53 km. The Rivière alternates calm passages and rapids between two immense rock faces of 500 m by places. The climate is much less hard than on the plates encircling it because of difference of Altitude.

The Gorges of the Tarn are a natural Site classified.

The sublime point in the south east of Saint-Georges-with-Lévéjac offers a panoramic sight on the gorges of the Tarn.
