Gore Vidal (born Eugene Luther Gore Vidal the October 3rd 1925) is a Romancier, author of Théâtre and American Essayiste .

Resulting from a family of influential politicians (his grandfather was senator) related to the dynasty of the Kennedy, Gore published in 1948 The City and the Pillar , delivers which made scandal because it was the first true American novel to put in scene clearly homosexual characters.

In the Years 1950, it writes much for television, then became scenario writer in Hollywood to earn his living. But the literary ambitions never leave it. It ties friendships with colleagues like Truman Capote (with which, then, it was scrambled with dead) or Tennessee Williams, attends Anaïs Nin as well as Jack Kerouac.

It became thereafter one of the large designers of the American literature. Politically, he frequently denounces what he calls " the policy impériale" the USA.

During about thirty years, Gore Vidal shared its time between Ravello on the Côte amalfitaine in Italy and Los Angeles in California. For health reasons, it decided, in 2003, to sell its villa of Ravello, called Rondinaia. Today, he lives most of the time in Los Angeles.
