Gordon Roger Alexander Buchannan Parks was a Photographe, Réalisateur, Journaliste and black Militant American, born the November 30th 1912 and deceased the March 7th 2006. Its most known works are its photoreportages for stores Life like one of its films, Shaft.

Parks was born in Fort Scott in the Kansas, the last of a family of 15 children. It lost his mother at the 16 years age. It moved in then in the Minnesota, at one of his sisters. After having given up its secondary studies, he exerted various trades, of which that of pianist.

He began his career from 25 years old photographer to Chicago, where he became fashion photographer and of personalities. In 1942, it carried out a photoreportage for an agency created especially to gather testimonys on the sociocultural life of the United States.

Parks is deceased of a Cancer the March 7th 2006.
