It was named 21 times on the team of Stars of the LNH. It began its career in the LNH with the Red Wings de Détroit in 1946 and played for this team during more than 20 years. Being withdrawn from hockey in 1971, it returned in 1973 to play sides of its two sons at Aeros of Houston in the Worldwide association of hockey. During its stay in this rival association of the LNH, it compiled a card of 174 goals and 334 assistances.Gordie Howe a long time held the records for the number of goals, assistances and points, but these records were beaten by Wayne Gretzky.
