Gordian III

Gordian III ( Marcus Antonius Gordianus Pius ) (v. 224 - 244) was Roman Emperor of 238 with 244.

He is the nephew of Gordien II and the grandson of Gordien I {{er}}, both emperors in 238. Maxime Pupien and Balbin succeeded the latter but the people asked so that Gordien III their barrel assistant. Also, when in the summer the 238 Praetorian eliminated Pupien and Balbin, they made recognize Gordien as emperor. Initially, it reigned under the direction of its relationship and close senators.
