Google Video

Google Video is a service of division and visionnage of vidéos suggested by Google and available in French since July 12th, 2006.

The sending, the research and the visionnage of the vidéos were simplified with the possible one. It is enough to type a key word (as for a normal Search engine) and Google finds all automatically the vidéos lodged on the site which refer closely or by far to the word indicated.

The vidéos come directly from the Google Video site and are thus not required on Internet. The site has its own video player, Google Video Viewer , an extension available for Internet Explorer and Firefox, with which one can look directly in video line it if this one is not paying. The video will be with the format " gvi" and could be only read with the Google reader.

Google Video proposes paying vidéos as well (video clips, films, American televised series ABC, NBC, CNN, AOL) that vidéos free settings on line by the users, thanks to the " Google Video Uploader" , downloadable free software after having created a Google account (free).

In addition to being able to put it video on its Internet site, there is possibility of downloading it with the format Mac/PC, “iPod video”, and PlayStation Portable.

Each person who proposes a video on Google Video can modify her characteristics (free, paying, downloadable…) and can see the statistics of its video: the number of times that this one at summer visualized and downloaded. It will be noted that it is necessary to count approximately a day to see appearing its video on the index of Google.

The site proposes a signal 100 of the most looked at vidéos, the Google selection, the vidéos recently added and a classification according to the types of video (humor, clips musical, sport, plays…)

October 9th, 2006, Google repurchases YouTube for an amount of 1,65 billion dollars in actions, which constitutes at the time the largest operation of acquisition of Google (amount exceeded since the repurchase of DoubleClick). At the end of this agreement, YouTube will preserve its name, like its 67 employees, of which the cofounders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen.
