Good of Savoy

Good of Savoy , in Italian Bona di Savoia , born the August 10th 1449 with Chambéry and dead the November 17th 1503 with Fossano, is noble a Italy which was not duchess of Milan.

Biography

It was the fifteenth child of Louis I {{er}} of Savoy (1413-1465), count de Savoie, of Maurienne and Nice, prince of the Piedmont, and Anne de Lusignan (1419-1462), itself girl of Janus (1375-1432), king de Chypre and of Charlotte of Bourbon (1388-1422).

In July 1461, new the king de France, Louis XI, husband of Charlotte of Savoy, wishes to tie an alliance with his/her friend, the duke of Milan François Sforza, and the Maison of Savoy with, takes precedence the renouncement of the French claims of it over Genoa and Savone. Although rather related to the Aragonese of the kingdom of Naples, François Sforza accepts alliances.

The April 24th 1467, Galéas Marie II (1444-1476), oldest son and successor since the March 8th 1466 of François Sforza, is found widowed of Dorothée Gonzague (1449-1467) and chooses for remarier one of the girls of his ally Louis I {{er}} of Savoy, Bonne.

A marriage by procuration takes place with the castle of Amboise, the May 10th 1468, in the presence of Tristano Sforza, half-brother of Galéas Marie and the représentant.
And the July 7th, with the cathedral of Milan, take place the nuptials of Good, 18 years old, with Galéas Marie, duke of Milan.

Living with the castle of Sforza in Milan, the Castello Sforzesco , Bonne are devoted to his/her four children who are born between 1469 and 1473.

Regency

The political life of Good starts only after the assassination of her husband, the December 26th 1476. His/her son Jean Galéas has only seven years and half when it is to become new the duke of Milan.
Good assumes regency for his/her son and chooses to advise it Cicco Simonetta, the secretary of his late husband, who, in 1473, at the time of a grave disease, it had been designated already as tutor of his son.

Jean Galéas hardly buried, from the disorders caused by his brothers and half-brothers, Ludovic at the head and, in his wake, Ascanio, Sforza Maria, Ottaviano, Filippo Maria will come to disturb this régence.
As of February 1477, force is to allot to each brother a residence, constraint to which Bonne yields with the support of Louis III Gonzague, the marquis de Mantoue.
Then, forts to have subdued an insurrection génoise, they are caught some with Cicco Simonetta which, according to them, holds too many being able in the government of the duchy. One the their trustworthy ones, Donato LED Tells, having been imprisoned in May 1477, the conflict turns to the rebellion but the revolted brothers undergo a failure and they are found assigned with residence, judged and exiled.

Although disencumbered for a time of Ludovic, quietude is not therefore with go for the regent because the year 1478 starts under bad auspices: the food shortage and a subsequent epidemic strikes the duché.
In the plan of the peace and maintenance of law and order, the things do not go better. July 1st, the Milanese troops are beaten, with Busalla, by an army of rebels génois carried out by Roberto Sanseverino, trustworthy of the brothers rebelles.
The year finishes badly: December 28th, the Bataille of Giornico known as of the Grosses Stones (enlarged Sassi) opposing the Milanese army to the mountain dwellers Tessin ois is concluded by the victory from the troops Suisse S and the loss for the duchy from the valley from Leventine ( Valle Leventina ) returned to the Uranais as envisaged.

And beginning 1479, Ludovic remakes surface. Accompanied by Sforza Maria and Roberto Sanseverino, it is transformed into Hors-la-loi and carries out Razzia S in Toscane then, in company of Obietto Fieschi, country génois. The two brothers are considered to be rebellious and their spoils confisqué.
A little later in July 1479, Sforza Maria dies poisoned and Ludovic assumes the title of duke of Bari.
From now on, it is with a troop of 8  000 men that the three brigands move who take Tortona in August 1479 and sow terror in the area of Alexandria.

The loss of the capacity

In Milan, true raised shields definitively take place in the rows of notable the gibelins for débarasser of Ludovic. However, Cicco Simonetta, its family and a certain number of its trustworthy is stopped mid-September 1479. Ludovic has from now on the means of imposing its will and, as of the following day, Bonne is seen forced to appoint Ludovic first governor of the duché.
It is now Ludovic which manages the government of Milan and alliances, in fact with Naples, Florence and Ferrare, just as an agreement is concluded envisaging the marriage from Jean Galéas with Isabelle of Naples.

The October 7th 1480, Ludovic seizes its nephew Jean Galéas thus withdrawing it from the influence of Good. Cicco Simonetta is decapitated at the end of October, and, in November, Bonne is imprisoned with Abbiategrasso then exiled with the Piedmont.

Good is authorized to return to Milan in September 1482 and, in December 1483, it is found again imprisoned with Abbiategrasso following a conspiracy organized against Ludovic by Luigi da Vimercate.

The October 22nd 1494, Jean Galéas II dies and Ludovic becomes the new duke of Milan.
The following year, Good portion for the France, with Turns initially, then with Lyon.

In 1500, it obtains from its nephew Philibert II of Savoy a field with Fossano in the Piedmont.
It is there that she dies, the November 17th 1503, 54 years old.

Meanwhile, Ludovic was relieved by the king de France, Louis XII of France.
Its remainders rest from now on with the Castello Sforzesco , the castle of Sforza, where she lived time when she was duchess.

Descent

Good gave three children to Galéas Marie:
  • Jean Galéas II (1469-1494) which became the duke with dead of Galéas Marie and married Isabelle of Naples (1470-1524)
  • Ermes (1470-1503) which became marquis of Tortona
  • Blanche Marie (1472-1510) which married, in 1493, the emperor Maximilien I {{er}}
  • Anna Maria (1473-1497) which married, in 1491, Alphonse I {{er}} of Este, duke of Ferrare.
