Good Charlotte is a group of punk music North-American founded in the Années 1990 with Waldorf (Maryland) by the two twin brothers Benji and Joel Madden. The sound of the group mixes with the elements of Pop punk and Punk rock'n'roll.

History of the group
First stepsThe founders of the group, the Joel twins and Benji Madden, grew in the town of Waldorf in Maryland. They founded the group in 1996 with their friends of childhood Paul Thomas (low) and Aaron Escolopio (battery). The second guitarist, Billy Martin, joined them later. Many passages to the antenna of radio stations like WHFS or that of Philadelphia and the concerts with groups like Blink 182, Bed, Eve 6, Nine Days and Bad Religion finally led them to a contract with Epic Records, which made appear the album of the same name as the group in May 2000. A song, The Click was used for the animated series of MTV. It is at this time that the group connected its first successes such as Little Things .
The beginning of notorietyEscolopio leaves the group in early 2001 to join the group Wakefield with his/her brother. It is replaced by Dusty which leaves the group before the exit of the second album, The Young & the Hopeless . It is finally Josh Freese which will play on this album. Thanks to the song Lifestyles off the Rich and the Famous , Good Charlotte will be recognized on the international scene rock'n'roll.
The presence of the two Madden brothers as presenters on MTV in the emission “All Things Rock” helped much to put forward their music with more an high ranking. Finally, The Young & the Hopeless are a major success from which five individual result. Madden also assembled a label called “cd. Flag” as well as a mark of clothing, MADE Clothing with their older brother.
The guitarist Billy Martin also launched a line of clothing: Level 27 . Good Charlotte is a group of which credibility within the punk scene is very disputed. Many fans of the punk kind reproach them their appearances on MTV like their lines of clothing and their label which strongly contrast with the punk frame of mind, the DIY (“C it yourself”) which is the base of punk mentality. What want to say that actually, they font of the million thanks to the little children which does not know the music yet. The fans of the group think that Good Charlotte should not be free from success only under pretext which the group does not respect certain founded rules 25 years earlier. It is a debate which seems insoluble and the answer differs for each person according to her own definition from the punk music. The group defining him even as a group of music, but not engaging less world on the kind of music which they play.
Continuity in successIn 2004, Good Charlotte recorded its third album, The Chronicles off Life and Death whose songs report things that they lived. The last song, Wounded , sung by Benji Madden, are dedicated to the Madden father who left his family whereas the twins were only children.
Good Morning RevivalThe fourth album of Good Charlotte left the March 19th 2007 and is entitled Good Morning Revival . It is a return to the roots of the group according to Benji. To make have patience the fans, Good Charlotte had proposed on their site and their page Myspace two news: Keep Your Hands Off My Girl and To rivet . The song The River is a featuring with the Chanteur and the principal Guitariste of the group Avenged Sevenfold (Mr. Shadows and Synyster Gates).
