Good-Fountain

Good-Fountain is a variation of the Commune Frenchwoman of Danne-and-Four-Winds, in the department of the the Moselle, between Phalsbourg and the Col of Saverne. It is about a place of Pèlerinage very attended, devoted to the Virgin Mary, celebrated the September 8th, day of the Nativité of the Blessed Virgin.

The pilgrimage

The name of the variation comes from the source of a perfectly pure water, containing beneficial Fluor, which spouts out in this place since moved back times. Very close, in the trunk of a tree, was a Statue tte of Notre-Dame.

A Chapelle in Bois is built in 1714 by soldiers of the garrison of Phalsbourg. This year, a epidemic of dysentery mortal prevails in the garrison. soldiers discover in the hollow of a Chêne the Statue of the Virgin Mary and very close from there a source. These patients called upon the Vierge, drank this water, were some better and even cured. The Faith of these men and that of the population of the area very quickly establishes a bond between Statue tte, the source and the cures. The Pèlerinage with Notre-Dame of Good-Fountain was born.

A Vault in stone, more roomy, is set up in 1741 and, starting from 1751, one organizes the Culte there systematically. Different Abbé S works with the construction of the sanctuary until in 1908, date on which Monseigneur Benzler, bishop of Metz, entrusts the animation of the Pèlerinage to the Pères franciscains, which increase gradually the place of Culte.

The fountain

The source of origin is located under the entry of the Chapelle and in 1979, the accesses external of the fountain are renewed. The outgoing Eau of the rock streams in three superimposed basins, with the foot of the massive furnace bridge of pink sandstone. Symbolism takes again any sounds direction: it is Eucharistie by which the Christ offers her body and its Sang, which the sharp Eau spouts out in the middle of the world, in eternal life.

A new meeting room and of récollection is built in 1996, to accommodate the groups.
