Gontran the Rich person
Gontran the Rich person , count of Altenbourg, Sundgau, Argau (current the Argovie) and of Vindonisse, count of Alsace of 917 with 954, is one of the first ancestors of the Habsbourg.
Gontran was born from Hugues I count d' Alsace, of Eguisheim, Nordgau, Ortenau, Argauet of Hohenberg, and landgrave of Alsace, and Hildegarde countess of Ferrette. It probably goes down from Etichon (or Adalric), duke of Alsace to the VIIe century and VIIIe century, which makes affiliates its family with Sainte Odile and is used for the claims of Habsbourg.
He was a great landowner in the the Low-Rhine, and was made conceal most of his grounds in Alsace, Brisgau and Thurgovie, by the emperor Otton at the time of a diet in August 952, under pretext of high treason, which constitutes the first mention of Habsbourg in the history.
He is the brother of Eberhard IV, count de Nordgau, and Hugues II, count d' Eguisheim. He married Brigantine, countess of Montfort, then Ithe, countess of Calw. He had a son of its first marriage into 945, Lantolde, count d' Altenbourg. He died on March 26th 973.
