Gonfreville-l\' Orcher
Gonfreville-l' Orcher is a common French, located in the department of the Seine-Maritime and the area High-Normandy. It was creates by fusion between the two old parishes of Gonfreville and Gournay. The suffix currently used comes from the seigneuriale family of Auricher then owner of the castle. The semantic evolution of the name gave, by contraction, the current name of Orcher.
Its inhabitants is called Gonfrevillais.
Gonfreville-l' Orcher, with the great pride of its inhabitants, was elected “most sporting Ville of France” in 2001. What will make say to Patrick Thierry, director sports of the city, " With 13 euros, one can swim seven months per annum ".
Geography
This commune (zip code 76700) is located on Right Bank of the the Seine, with ten kilometers of the Havre, in the Canton of Gonfreville-l' Orcher, since the creation of this new entity.
Economy
Its economy depends primarily on the industrialo-harbor zone of Basse-Seine (Raffinerie S…) and of the retail park of the Camp-Pare.
The commune of Gonfreville-l' Orcher deployed a network in Fiberoptic on the whole of its territory (100% of the free connected buildings). The castle of Orcher (XIè-XVIIIè century)
Gonfreville-l' Orcher has a Château built to protect the entry from the the Seine. Occupied by English in 1415, it has an imposing tower, square and notched. The fortress was transformed at the 18th century into dwelling.Its park is accessible to the public all the year. An annual appointment Plantes in festivals takes place all the second weekends of October.
The Manor of Bévilliers
The manor of Sénitot, with the locality " Bévilliers" , was set up between the 2nd quarter of the 16th century and the 2nd quarter of the 17th century. It is out of brick, limestone and stone of size. It is currently a private property.
Church Saint-Erkonwald (XIè- XIXè century)
Founded in XIè century, it owes its name with évèque of London of the 7th century after J.C. The current church was built on levels drawn up in 1858 and was sacrilized in 1865.
Notre-Dame church of the Consolation
It is located at Gournay-in-Caux (17th/19th).
Saint-Dignefort vault
Founded in 1204 per Guillaume d' Angerville, it was ruined during the One hundred Year old war and was rebuilt during second half of the 15th century. At the 17th century, it is not served any more regularly. The current unit preserving of the chimneys of the 17th century, was altered at the 19th century. It had been sold in 1791, like National Bien and a house was then set up there. It is currently a private property.
The dovecote
The dovecote is a building of the 15th century, located place of the Old Dovecote.
Mayville, working city
Mayville was created in 1906 by the factories Schneider (May was the first name of the girl of the owner of the company) to place the workmen and their family there, employed in the artillery factory of Gonfreville.
It was built in several sections of 1906 to 1939.
The allotments, from 6 to 19 houses on grounds of approximately 200 m ², are served by broad parallel avenues with gas and water supply network.
The trade were established there in shops without sign along the Schneider avenues and of Bricqueville.
Between 1908 and 1912, Schneider made there build two school complexes in edge of the city.
After 1918, the commercial city consists of a grocer, a bakery, a horsemeat butcher's, a canteen and a vault out of wooden.
In 1930, a new shopping mall is built there.
Personalities related to the commune
Jacques Eberhard, former mayor was Senator of the Ve République of 1969 with 1986.Emmanuel d' Harcourt, whose family is owner of the castle, near of the Général de Gaulle and Compagnon to the Release, is deceased on July 30th 1985 with Gonfreville Orcher.
