Gombergean

Gombergean is a common French, located in the department of Loir-et-Cher and the area Center.

Geography

Located between Blois and Vendôme in Loir-et-Cher (area Centers), Gombergean is localized on the Plate juxtant the valley of the Dormouse and profits from a plane ground (presenting a unevenness of 16 meters between its altitudes maximum and minimal) and from a oceanic climate. The village is surrounded by its " plaine" composed of fields, wood and houses in construction.

Economy

The principal economic sector is agriculture but one counts also some craftsmen (leather working, joinery, building…). There is no activity of the tertiary sector based on the village.

History

The name of the village comes from its name in II°siècle: " Villa Gomberge " , the field of Gomberge " , the name of a woman (heiress, founder?). Towards 1060 is undertaken the construction of the church St Georges (St Georges being the owner of Gombergean). She belonged to the abbey of the Trinity (Vendôme). Then there be a priory and a smallholding (for the church). It depended on the diocese of Chartres. On the history of the village I then to tell you large thing of other: it there have not in this place of great battle, neither of noble birth, nor basic soldier secret. Only of " the endoordinaire " as would have said it Pérec . In short in Gombergean one was born peaceful and happy… and long as the 108 year old street testifies it when lived and mourru the recordman of the village as regards age…

Places and monuments

Gombergean account 3 monuments: a War memorial preserved remarkably well (there is no tag), a Church dating from XI°siècle and finally the Village which is in him even a testimony of the life in France since the time of the Gallic one. We delay on the church. As I mentioned above, it was built in XI°siècle. But it undergoes important restorations and modifications with the XV° and XVI° with notment a nave with skirting and a crucifix out of wooden carved with the XVI°, a narrower chorus with flat bedside, Gothic bays, a Romance gate and tombstones of 1583 to 1652 and one swimming pool with the XV°. Récmment, its bell-tower was renovated (2005).

That to tell to personalities related to the commune… to share fire our 108 year old recordman about which I spoke higher, I see only Yannick Noah which lived with St Cyr Of Gault, with a few km of Gombergean.
