The Pilgrimage of Compostelle

On the Via Podiensis of the Pilgrimage of Saint-Jacques-to-Compostelle .
One comes from Estaing, the next commune is Espeyrac , and its priory of Saint-Pierre.

History

The village as of the 11th century was on a way of passage because a locality was entitled L `Estrade.

Places and monuments

At the entry of the village in south-east, a stone cross of the 15th century, once more certifies the close relationship with the pilgrimage of Saint-Jacob.
Representing a Virgin with the Child with the feet of Christ and, on the barrel, carved in the stone, a small capped pilgrim of a hat, an enormous bumblebee is due firmly to the right hand.

The church dedicated to Martin saint, which indicates a very old origin, towards 950.
It preserves Romance bases of a priory Benedictine which depended at the 12th century on the abbey on Conques. One can see a very beautiful furnace bridge there.
