Golijska Moravica

The Golijska Moravica or, more simply, the Moravica , in Serb Cyrillic ГолијскаМоравица or Моравица, are a river of the west of the Serbia. With a 98 km length, it consitue the principal arm of the Zapadna Morava, river which it forms by linking its water with those the Đetinja. The river gives its name to the area which it crosses and with the current district of Moravica.

Goljiska Moravica belongs to the basin of drainage of the Black Sea; its own basin covers a surface of: 1486 km ². It is not navigable. The hydroelectric potential of the river is not exploited.

Stari Vlah

Golijska Moravica takes its source on the Western slopes of the mount Golija. It directs initially its race towards north between the mounts Golija and Javor and crosses the area of Stari Vlah, area slightly populated. In this part of its course, it crosses the villages of Sakovići, Gazdovići and Kumanica. With Međurečje, it receives on its left water of the Nošnica . It crosses finally the village of Čitluk.

Depression of Ivanjica

Golijska Moravica penetrates then in the depression of Ivanjica, located between the mounts Čemerno, with the east, and Mučanj, in the west. It receives on its line water of the Lučka reka and, on its left, those of the Grabovička reka . The river crosses the town of Ivanjica and the villages of Bedina Varoš and Šume. It passes then to Prilike and Dubrava. Before leaving the depression, Golijska Moravica passes to the Monastère of Sveti Arhanđeli and continues its race in direction of north.

Depression of Arilje and the area of Tašti

Golijska Moravica enters then the depression of Arilje, located between the mounts Golubac (at the east) and Blagaja (in the west). With height of the village of Divijaka, it receives on its line water of the Trešnjevica and, always on its line, those of its principal affluent, the Rzav, close to the town of Arilje.

In the final section of its course, Golijska Morava reaches the area of Tašti, located between the mounts Blagaja, Krstac and Crnokosa, in the east of the town of Požega. Close to the village of Pilatovići, Golijska Morava meets Đetinja and, mixing its water with his, form the Zapadna Morava, the principal arm of the Velika Morava.
