Biography

Girl of Strong Rene (1918 - 1985), mayor of Niort and deputy (PS) of Two-Sevres, it is graduate National school veterinary surgeon de Toulouse in 1972. She also obtained a Diplôme of thorough studies in microbial ecology, passed to Lyon in 1983. Its professional path proceeded in the directions of the veterinary services of Saint-Brieuc, Fougères, then in Niort, in the laboratories of the French Agence of public health of the food.

Member of the PS, it is municipal adviser (1989-1995) then associated with the mayor of Niort, and general adviser of Two-Sevres (1992-1998). She is elected appointed in the 1 district of the Two-Sevres for XIe legislature (1997 - 2002), bringing back in the socialist camp the seat which had charmed to him in 1993 the mayor of Chauray, Jacques Brossard (UDF).

She is then easily re-elected appointed in 2002 and 2007.

In 2007, she is elected vice-president of the socialist group of the National Assembly, responsible with the Environnement and the social economy.

The socialist militants of Niort indicated it on September 29th, 2007 to be their chief candidate at the time of the municipal elections of March 2008, at the expense of the outgoing mayor (PS), Alain Baudin, also candidate with the nomination of his party.

Adverse with the constitutional treaty at the time of the referendum of May 29th, 2005, on November 5th, 2007, it is one of the signatories of the call published in Libération entitled “Why the nonists of the PS vote yes with the new treaty”. It encourages the PS thus to yes vote with the treaty of Lisbon substituent to the late European constitution.
