Gold rosette

The Cocarde of Gold is a test of Course camarguaise which takes place each year, first Monday of July, in Arles, France. It is a race of importance cash for the championship of the raseteurs, the Trophée of the Aces.

History

The Gold Rosette was imagined and creates by Nicolas Crouason, in November 1927. The first race proceeded on July 2nd, 1928.
Nicolas Crouason also wrote the payment of the race, which was refined with the time and the requirements of the world of the bouvine, but which remains as a whole. This payment was a source of inspiration for the payments of the other races camarguaises.

Payment of the race

  • Article I: The raseteurs who will take part in this race will have to be obligatorily in the following behavior: line and pants white (what was not always the case up to that point).
  • Article II: Each bull will remain to the maximum 15 minutes in track

(at the beginning of 16 minutes, then the left expression included/understood disappeared).
  • Article III: It will have to be attacked only with the ringing of trumpet, in a time left with the appreciation of the jury and which will not have to exceed 2 minutes. The attributes removed after the ringing of re-entry to the toril will not be paid and will not return in the account of the points.

  • Article IV: The Gold Rosette will be allotted to the rasetor adding up the greatest number of points. It comprises a premium in cash X frank and a gold rosette, a long time the Grand Prix of Honor of the Festival Committee.

< Br/> Until 1943, instead of the Gold Rosette, was allotted a diploma with the title of First Raseteur de France. There was also the handing-over of a Cut (acquired after two consecutive victories), and maintaining of an Object of Article.
Le rasetor classified second is seen decreeing the Price Nicolas Crouanson. Since 1963, there is a third (Price Jean Héritier).
Enfin, since 1929, a Price is allotted to the first classified rasetor arlésien, who should not have obtained one of both, and maintaining of the first three Prices.
En 1938 and 1939, a Price was decreed with the best bull of the race, idea which was taken up only in 1963, the bucket-gardian of the Manade being of course rewarded pecuniarily.
  • Article V: The points will be deducted in the following way:

- Cut Rosette: 1 point - Rosette removed after cut: 2 points; - rosette removed with the first blow of hook: 2 points - Nipples: 2 points - String, cut of the frontal: 1 point - String: 2 points - Rubber band: 2 points.

Two attributes removed into only one raset will count for 3 points.

It is here, which there was the most modifications: - The garrot (3 points), disappeared after 1934, the payment of 1936 known as indeed: “There will not be a garrot, but simple not preceded currency, with the colors of the herd, to which it is recommended to abstain from touching”. - To the first test, the bulls carried two nipples, but they have only one in 1929 of them - 1930 - 1931 -1932 and 1934, and definitively two as from 1936. - The rubber band is deducted only since 1948, and it is only since 1953 that the cut of the frontal is mentioned for a point, and that two attributes into only one raset are revalued at 3 points instead of 2 hitherto. This article 5 finishes as follows:

The jury will have moreover, faculty to take account of the work of each rasetor to whom it will be able to give a number of additional points, going from 1 to 3, just as it to him is reserved the latitude to raise the points allocated with the removal of the attributes.

He seems well that the first part of this subparagraph was applied only once in 1928. On the other hand, it arrived many time that the points are doubled and sometimes even triplets.

  • Article VI: The contest will end with the seventh bull and the prize list will be proclaimed after the eighth, the last being used to possibly decide between the equal ones. (Until 1937, he was proclaimed after the last but one). This article was not applied in 1959, where there were two winners ex-aequo who shared the 2nd Price.

En 1934, the contest ended after 6th. On the other hand in 1938, the 9 bulls present counted, like in 1939 (8 deer).
Cet article did not play for the years of the occupation, where the Gold Rosette disputed over two days nor for the seven years which followed the Release where it was necessary to await the re-entry with the toril last jingoist to know the winner.
Ce is only into 1952 that this clause was definitively restored. That there are six, eight or more generally seven bulls, the last is always out of competition.
  • Article VII: Any rasetor will be reprimand to have intentionally obstructed one as of his colleagues, for lack of correction or actions, raising general reprobation. The reprimand will be able to involve a loss of points for itself and its associate.

  • Article VIII: The decisions of the Presidency are without call and the Friendly one of Raseteurs will be officially represented within the jury.

  • Article IX: The Committee does not answer of any accident and declines any responsibility.

This payment was signed at the same time by the President of the Taurine Commission and the President of the Festival Committee.
Pendant very a long time, the race of the Gold Rosette was an organization of the Festival Committee of Arles. But, for approximately 25 years (in 1981, NdA), it has not been the same any more. Article VII of the payment 1928 was applied until 1937, (inscription of the only invited raseteurs). Each year, an extract of this payment is published in the program of the festivals of Arles, in particular articles II - III - IV and V (calculation of the points).

Winners

Many raseteurs were distinguished, such Christian Chomel, eight times winner of the test or Lucien Volle, with seven victories.

Better bulls

At the conclusion of each race, the Presidency indicates the best bull of the day, according to precise criteria. Prestige is large for the bull but also for its manadier.
