daN Simmons (born the April 4th 1948 with Peoria, Illinois), is a American writer known mainly for its novels of Science-fiction and horror.

Its books are published in 27 countries.

He lives with Longmont, close to Denver, in the Colorado, with the the United States with his Karen wife and his daughter. Its place of predilection to write is its secondary house, located in full mountain at Windwalker at the south of the National park of Rocky Mountain . Close to the house, a sculpture of 2,43 meters representing famous Gritche of the Songs of Hypérion assembles the guard.

It received the Prix Hugo for his novels Hypérion and the fall of Hypérion , which form with Endymion and the Awakening of Endymion , the cycle of Hypérion .

Its last book, The Terror , appeared into 2007 in the United States in France is a novel of horror recalling forwarding of Sir John Franklin with two buildings designed for polar exploration, HMS Erebus and HMS Terror , disappeared body and goods in the Far North in 1845.
