Godsmack is a group of alternate Metal of Boston.

History of the group

It is in 1995 that Sully Erna decides to give up the battery to become singer, and thus to found one of the " groups; monuments" scene Rock'n'roll in the USA.

It is after some changes of look and a small year after its " disappearance of the world the batterie" that Godsmack is born and records its first album in studio: All Wound Up . The group was then made of Sully Erna, Robbie Merrill and Tony Rombola.

Two years after, their success started to make the effect of an enormous bomb on the scene of Boston with the company of the beater: Joe Darco. They really started to have a large reputation.

The group went really better and better, CD were bought in the majority of the streets of Boston and one started to hear the music of the group on the US radio station: WAAF. The station diffused the song then: " keep away" and then became number 1 of the chain. Newbury Comics, a new line of recording was leaving to distribute the albums of the group Godsmack and they continued their rise to power.

After the phenomenal success of " keep away" , the radio hardly started to emit " whatever" that it became already a tube and the principal spot of WAAF. The sales of CDs were at the origin of a hundred per weeks but are quickly assembled to 1000 copies per weeks what with fact literally of flaming the scene rock'n'roll, then making of Godsmack an apogee of American metal. It is in 1998 that Universal Godsmack sign.

Joe Darco is then replaced by Tommy Stewart. All wound up was then remixé and the logo also. 6 weeks afterwards, the new album " Godsmack" was in the vats.

Godsmack began their first round with the " Voodoo Tour". Success was so phenomenal, the so many sales and the fans per thousands, that the group did not stop. In 1999, they take part in Ozzfest and in 2000 also, then an exclusive round in Europe with Black Sabbath and an intervention with Woodstock in 1999.

In 2000, the album " Awake" was in the vats and all the radios arachaient it. The song " Vampire" was even named for the Grammy Awards.

The round of " Awake" was a true explosion for the fans since the concerts were with closed counters and that the group chose the pyrotechnical effects.

At this point in time Sully at summer requested for the Original soundtrack of the film " the King scorpion " , with in high-speed motorboat " The rock". Sully obviously accepted the challenge and fortunately, since the song " I Alone" stand; at summer major Hit of the scene rock'n'roll, diffused on all the stations of the kind during 14 weeks.

After 4 years of rounds, Godsmack needed a station-wagon. And it is during this station-wagon that Shannon Larkin, friend of Sully for 15 years, has been required to replace Tommy Stewart.

In 2003, the group leaves a new album: " Faceless" , at once number 1 of the sales in the USA, with for the first 23 months, a round in concerts and including two nominations for the Grammy Awards and to finish, 11 months of round in all the arenas with Metallica.

In March 2004, Godsmack carried out its first acoustic album: " The other side" which included the futures hits " keep away" , " Re-align" and finally " Awake" .

Lastly, in 2006, Godsmack leaves a new album: IV. The group then returned to a style plus metal, while also including acoustic songs (in the vein of The Other Side).

Contributions

- Two their songs (I Alone Stand, Straight Out Off Line) are present like B.O of the play Prince off Persia: the Heart of the warrior. I Stand Alone is thus the music of Dahaka; and Straight Out Of Line accompanies the credits by end.

- The song " I Alone" stand; is also present in the film " The king scorpion" whose video clip is inspired by it.

- Once again I stand alone is used for the film " A man with part" with Vin Diesel

- The song Goin' Down appears in the film " II" mission impossible;.
