Godric Gryffondor is a character of the saga Harry Potter written by J.K. Rowling. The author makes of it mention for the first time in Harry Potter and the Room of the Secrecies in chapter 9.

Godric Gryffondor (in English Godric Gryffindor ), in the universe of Harry Potter, is the founder of the house Gryffondor and cofounder of the school of sorcery Poudlard with the three other wizards and witch of his time, approximately thousand years ago:

It is useful to note that the parents of Harry lived until their death with GODRIC' S HOLLOW (what perhaps played a part in the assignment of Harry with Griffondor…). The legendary sword of Godric is in the office of Dumbledore.

Godric Gryffondor was one of the largest duellists of the medieval time and fought against the discrimination of the moldus (example: Salazard Serpentard refused that moldus enter in Poudlard). To be able to decide between the pupils and their house, it created the magic Choixpeau and would have stolen its famous sword to a goblin in order to make its property of it but nothing was proven.
