Godjam
Godjam (Ge' ez ጎጃም gōjjām , initially ጐዛም gʷazzam , later ጐዣም gʷažžām , ጎዣም gōžžām ) was a province of the North-West of the Ethiopia, whose capital was Debre Marqos.
The inhabitants of Godjam revolted twice at the time contemporary against the increase of the taxes. The first time in 1950 and the second in 1968, about at the same time as the Revolt Basle. With the difference of the province of Basle, the central government did not employ the army to subdue the revolt, but replaced the governors and reconsidered his decision of raising new taxes. At the time of the revolt of 1968, the central government went as far as ceasing claiming the arrears of debt going back to 1950.
